Clouded Leopards
The clouded leopard does not fit into the great cats or the small cats, it is somewhere in between them. It cannot purr like a small cat and it can not roar like a great cat. Clouded leopards are very skilled in climbing trees. They are able to run down trees head first and climb branches horizontally with their backs to the ground. They can even hang upside down with their hind legs. They are very good swimmers and readily take to water. The clouded leopard gets its name from the cloud like markings on its body, head, legs, and tail. The inside color of the clouds are darker than the background and sometimes have black dots on them. The legs and belly have large black ovals and the back of the neck has two thick black bars. The tail is thick and plush with black rings. It is a short legged cat with the hind legs being longer than the front. It has the longest canines than any other living cat and weighs 22-45 pounds.
